Hail and storm restoration in the heart of hail alley.
Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming make up hail alley, and El Paso County has recorded more than 1,500 hailstorms since 1950. We inspect with 10 by 10 foot test squares on every slope, document each strike the way your adjuster will scope it, and then restore the roof and every exterior trade the storm damaged.
Alta is a storm restoration specialist working Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the surrounding counties. We inspect with marked test squares on every slope, start with the soft metals because they bruise before shingles do, photograph and measure every strike, and hand your adjuster a documented packet rather than an opinion. Then we restore the whole exterior, not just the roof. On a covered claim your deductible is typically your only out-of-pocket cost.
Why this region eats roofs.
The corridor running through eastern Colorado is the most hail-prone stretch of the United States, and El Paso County is among the counties with more than 1,500 recorded hailstorms since 1950. On the Rocky Mountain Insurance Association's list of Colorado's costliest hailstorms, a July 2016 Colorado Springs storm sits at roughly $352.8 million and a July 2009 Pueblo storm at roughly $232.8 million in insured losses. This is not an occasional event here, it is the climate.
Layer high-altitude UV and a daily freeze-thaw swing on top of that and shingles in this region age faster than the same product does almost anywhere else in the country. A roof that would be middle-aged in Ohio can be at the end of its serviceable life here, which is why an honest damage assessment matters more than a sales pitch.
Going deeper: our hail damage roof repair guide.
What do you actually get when we do this work?
Test squares, not a walk-around
We chalk 10 by 10 foot test squares on each slope and each elevation and count the strikes inside them. That is how an adjuster scopes a roof, so that is how we inspect it. A roofer who tells you it is totalled after a walk to the ridge is guessing.
Soft metals first
Gutters, downspouts, roof vents, the air conditioner fins and the window wraps dent before an asphalt shingle bruises. They tell us the stone size and they help establish when the storm hit, which matters when a carrier questions the date of loss.
Granule loss and mat bruising
A hail hit is not a hole. It is a strike that knocks granules off and bruises the fibreglass mat underneath, which then fails early. We show you the difference between a genuine bruise, blistering and normal weathering, on your own roof.
Wind damage assessed separately
Wind is a distinct loss from hail and it is often the stronger part of the claim on the west side of Colorado Springs. Creased tabs and broken seal strips are real damage even when the shingle is still in place.
The whole exterior, not just the roof
The same storm that bruises the roof cracks vinyl siding, dents gutters, holes screens and marks garage doors and paint. We scope every elevation so the claim reflects what the storm actually did.
A packet built for the adjuster
Photographs, measurements, square counts, elevations, dates. We hand over evidence in the format the carrier works in, then we meet your adjuster on the roof and walk it with them.
Restoration by one crew
Roof, gutters, siding, windows, paint, garage doors and solar detach and reset, all coordinated by Alta under one claim and one schedule. Where an HOA is involved we handle the architectural approval and colour-matching so the restoration clears review.

What hail actually does to each part of your home.
Knowing where to look is the difference between a claim that gets paid properly and one that gets scoped as a partial repair.
- Roof
Bruised mat and granule loss
The strike knocks off the granule layer that protects the asphalt from UV. The mat underneath is bruised and soft to the touch. It does not leak today, it fails years early.
- Gutters
Dents and oval strikes
Aluminium gutters and downspouts take a clear impression. They size the stone and help establish the date of loss.
- Vents & flashing
Dented caps and turbines
Roof vents, turbines and furnace caps dent readily. A dented turbine that no longer spins freely is both hail evidence and a ventilation problem.
- Siding
Cracks, holes and chips
Vinyl cracks and holes on the impact side, steel and aluminium dent, fibre cement chips. On older siding the matching question decides the scope.
- Windows
Screens, wraps and seals
Torn screens, dented aluminium wraps and failed seals on the storm-facing elevations are commonly left off a first scope.
- AC & soft goods
Flattened condenser fins
The condenser fins on the outdoor unit flatten under hail, which restricts airflow and raises your running cost. Comb-out or replacement is usually claimable.

Storm & Hail Restoration questions.
Book the free inspection. From the ground you genuinely cannot tell, and a lot of what looks alarming is normal weathering while the real damage is invisible. We check the soft metals, lay out test squares and count strikes, then show you the photos and give you a straight answer.
It depends on the policy. A growing number of Colorado policies carry a cosmetic damage exclusion or endorsement on the roof surface, which changes the answer entirely. We read your declarations page with you before you file rather than after.
Less time than people think. Most Colorado policies set a deadline for reporting a loss, commonly one to two years from the date of loss, and proving the date gets harder the longer you wait. Check your policy and do not sit on it.
Get a second opinion before you sign anything. Storm season brings a lot of out-of-state crews through the Springs and Pueblo who are gone by the time a workmanship problem shows up. Ask for a local address, a Colorado contract that complies with Senate Bill 12-038, and photographs of test squares.
No, though it is better if you are, because the walkthrough afterwards is where the useful conversation happens. If you are deployed or out of state we will do a full photo report and talk it through by phone.
No. Alta works Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the counties around them, and we are still here in February. That is the point of hiring local.
