Roofing across
Colorado Springs
& Pueblo
Alta works two core markets, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and the 16 towns around them, from Woodland Park at about 8,465 feet in the mountains down to Pueblo at 4,692 feet. That's 3 building departments and very different weather, and our crews are in El Paso, Teller and Pueblo counties every working day.
Alta is built around two markets, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and the towns that sit between and around them. That is a deliberate footprint, not a map we drew to look big. Crews are in El Paso and Pueblo counties every working day, which is why we can get to a leak the same day and meet an adjuster on short notice instead of scheduling you three weeks out.

How different are these nine towns, really?
From Woodland Park down to Pueblo the ground drops about 3,800 feet. That changes the snow load, the summer deck temperature, the wind and the building department, and the roof spec has to change with it.
| Town | County | Elevation | Permits through | What wears roofs out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colorado Springs | El Paso County | 6,035 ft | Pikes Peak Regional Building Department | Hail, and downslope wind on the west side |
| Pueblo | Pueblo County | 4,692 ft | Pueblo Regional Building Department | Heat, steady wind, shingled low-slope additions |
| Fountain | El Paso County | 5,546 ft | Pikes Peak Regional Building Department | Open-ground hail and wind-driven rain |
| Monument | El Paso County | 6,960 ft | Pikes Peak Regional Building Department | Snow load, ice dams, the wildfire edge |

Up in the mountains
The Ute Pass towns, Woodland Park, Green Mountain Falls and Cascade, sit between about 7,400 and 8,500 feet, where snow load and ice dams drive the roof. We run ice-and-water membrane well past the eaves, keep the deck cold with balanced ventilation, and lean toward Class 4 shingle or snow-shedding metal. Monument, Woodmoor and Palmer Lake on the Divide get real snow too, and much of this high ground sits in the wildland-urban interface where Class A assemblies and ember-resistant vents matter.
Down on the mesa
Pueblo and Pueblo West run hotter, drier and windier. Shingles there go brittle and lose their seal before they rot, so ridge and rake detailing, correct starter strip and the right nailing pattern do most of the work. Low-slope rear additions on Pueblo's pre-war brick need membrane, not shingle.

We know which storms hit which streets.
Hail does not fall evenly. One neighbourhood takes golf-ball stones while the next street barely gets rain. Because we are local, we track where these storms actually land, from the Palmer Divide down through the Springs to the Pueblo mesa, so we can tell you quickly whether your roof was likely in the path.
Knowing the building department matters just as much. Colorado Springs, Fountain, Monument and unincorporated El Paso County run through the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. The City of Pueblo has its own. And since 1 January 2026 unincorporated Pueblo County, including Pueblo West, has been handled by the Pueblo County Building Division. We pull the right permit for your address without having to ask.
