ALTA ROOFING
Gutters, Windows & Solar Detach and Reset by Alta Roofing in Colorado Springs
Storm exterior & solar detach and reset

Gutters, windows and solar detach and reset.

A storm that dents your gutters also tears screens, marks the garage door and, if you have solar, means the panels have to come off for the roof. Alta restores all of it on one claim and one schedule, and forms new 5 inch and 6 inch K-style gutters on the truck at your house so there is no joint along the run to leak.

The direct answer

Alta restores the storm-damaged exterior across Colorado Springs and Pueblo: one-piece 5 inch and 6 inch gutters formed on site, windows, exterior paint, garage doors, and solar detach and reset. One contractor, one claim and one schedule instead of four separate trades, and we also fit gutters and guards as standalone work.

The trades a storm takes that the first scope misses.

A carrier's first estimate is usually written from the roof. The elevations get less attention, and the items that come back as supplements again and again are the same ones: window wraps and screens, garage door panels, the air conditioner condenser fins, detached structures and fences, and paint on the storm-facing side.

We scope every elevation at the inspection, not just the roof planes, which is the reason our supplements are usually documentation rather than argument. Where a trade genuinely was not damaged, we say so. Padding a scope is how a claim gets scrutinised and how a homeowner ends up in a fight.

The gutter itself does more work here than in a milder climate. In a Colorado Springs or Monument winter the run is not just carrying rain, it is carrying snowmelt that refreezes at the eave overnight, which is why the pitch of the run and the hanger spacing matter as much as the metal. A run that sags holds standing water, and standing water at the eave in January is how an ice dam starts. We set hidden hangers close, pitch the run toward oversized outlets, and size the downspouts to the roof area actually draining into them rather than defaulting to whatever was on the house before, so the system clears a July cloudburst and a February thaw alike.

Solar changes the sequence more than any other trade on the exterior. If panels sit on the storm-facing slope, the roof underneath cannot be touched until they come off, so the detach has to be scheduled before the tear-off and the reset after the new roof is on. We handle that whole sequence rather than leaving you to line up a roofer and a solar company, and every mount is flashed into the new roof and photographed, so there is one company standing behind the roof around your array instead of two pointing at each other. The full detach and reset has its own page if you want the detail.

What's included

What do you actually get when we do this work?

  • One-piece gutter, formed on site

5 inch and 6 inch K-style, formed on the truck at your house so there are no joints to fail along the run. Sized against your actual roof area and pitch, not defaulted to whatever was there before.

  • Downspouts and drainage that works

Oversized downspouts where the roof area demands it, and outlets positioned to move water away from the foundation. An undersized system overflows in a cloudburst no matter how new it is.

  • Gutter guards

Useful under ponderosa and spruce, and in the foothill neighbourhoods where needle drop is constant. We will tell you where they earn their cost and where they do not.

  • Windows, screens and wraps

Torn screens, dented aluminium wraps and damaged glass on the storm-facing elevations. These are small line items that are routinely left off the first scope.

  • Paint, fascia and garage doors

Hail chips paint and dents garage door panels. We restore the elevation so the house reads as whole again rather than patched on one side.

  • Solar detach and reset

If panels have to come off for the roof, we coordinate the detach and the reset so you are not managing a solar company and a roofer against each other.

  • Pitch and hangers built for snow

A gutter needs fall toward the outlet, and the common rule of thumb is about a quarter inch for every 10 feet of run. In a Colorado Springs or Monument winter the trough also carries snow and ice for weeks, so hanger spacing matters as much as the metal. Close hanger spacing keeps the run from sagging and holding water that freezes at the eave.

How the job runs

Start to finish, no surprises.

  1. Step 01

    Scope every elevation

Not just the roof. Each side of the house, photographed, with the damage marked.

  2. Step 02

    Document every elevation

Windows, wraps, paint and garage doors photographed and marked, because the items left off the first scope are the ones that come back later as supplements.

  3. Step 03

    One claim

Every trade on one claim and one schedule, sequenced so the roof happens before the paint and the gutters go on last.

  4. Step 04

    Install

Gutters rolled on site, windows fitted, solar detached and reset, paint finished.

  5. Step 05

    Walk it with you

Every elevation, before we call it done.

What we restore beyond the roof.

All of it coordinated by Alta, so you have one number to call and one person who owns the schedule.

  • Gutters

    One-piece 5″ and 6″ K-style

Rolled on site in aluminium, with hidden hangers and oversized downspouts where the roof area needs them.

  • Windows

    Screens, wraps and glass

Screen replacement, aluminium wrap repair and glass where hail or debris has broken the pane or the seal.

  • Paint

    Exterior and trim

Storm-facing elevations refinished so the repair does not read as a patch.

  • Garage doors

    Panels and full units

Hail-dented panels replaced, or the full door where panel matching is not available.

  • Solar

    Detach and reset

Panels removed before the roof goes on and reinstalled afterwards, coordinated on one schedule.

Straight answers

Gutters, Windows & Solar Detach and Reset questions.

Yes. One-piece gutters, downspouts and guards are available as standalone work with no claim and no roof involved.

By the roof area draining into the run, the pitch and the local rainfall intensity, not by what was there before. A steep roof concentrating onto a short run may need 6 inch gutter and oversized outlets where 5 inch would overflow.

We coordinate the detach and the reset as part of the project so you are not stuck between two contractors blaming each other for the schedule. Panel removal and reinstallation is a normal, claimable part of a roof replacement where panels are present.

Usually yes on a covered hail loss, because it is physical damage to a covered structure. Whether the carrier pays for panels or a full door depends on whether matching panels are still made for your model.

Usually because the system is undersized for the roof above it, or the outlets are in the wrong place. A steep, cut-up roof can dump a lot of water onto one short run in a summer cloudburst. Moving to 6 inch gutter, adding an outlet or going to oversized 3 by 4 inch downspouts usually fixes it, and we will tell you which one before quoting.

We handle the exterior and coordinate the trades that restore it. Where a leak has damaged ceilings or drywall we will tell you plainly what is in our scope and what is not, rather than taking on work we are not the right people for.
